Noted as a historic verdict of all time, the Supreme Court today announced that homosexuality is no longer an offence in India. Section 377 is now decriminalised and the verdict clearly mentions that the “Sexual orientation of an individual is natural and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is a violation of freedom of expression.” As expressed by the Chief Justice of India, Dipak Mishra.
Post this verdict by the Supreme Court on LGBTQ today, among many Bollywood celebrities who expressed their joy on this decision, Karan Johar was super elated that like he always does he took to Twitter to express himself.
The filmmaker wrote, “Historical judgment!!! So proud today! Decriminalising homosexuality and abolishing #Section377 is a huge thumbs up for humanity and equal rights! The country gets its oxygen back!”
